Thermarest sleeping pad? how to use?

Hi, i legitimate rented a thermarest sleeping pad, on of the classic series ones, from REI, but i didn't about to aks them how to use it, cna anyone explain to me how to use it? becuase it's supposed to be "self inflating"?

the valve turns Nautical port(open?)

As you look at the valve, you requirement to turn it left to open Counterclockwise.

They will SLOWLY self-enlarge. Very slowly when cold. But if you leave it on the ground for 3-5 minutes, it will be 80% full.
I fancy to let them self-inflate with ambient
