Recovered weapons, other items unclaimed in Etowah County

Dozens of items, including weapons, an iPad, laptop, several iPods, cellphones and computer components, have been recovered during the probe, but the owners are unknown, said Brandon Teague, a Gadsden police detective.
“This is a stock time to remind people how important it is to write down serial numbers,” Teague said. “Note them down and put them in a safe place.”
The items were recovered during the investigation of more than 200 conveyance break-ins across Etowah County, including the break-ins in February of five protecting cars.
David Lee Whitney, 21, and Nicholas Scott Swann, 24, both of Attalla, ends b body in the Etowah County Detention Center charged with several counts of disallowed breaking and entering a vehicle and theft of property.
Investigators from control agencies across Etowah County worked for months in their own jurisdictions, chasing down leads on the instrument break-ins.
However, when five law enforcement vehicles — two from the Gadsden Police Be subject to, one each from the Etowah and Calhoun county sheriff’s offices and the Sardis Burgh Police Department — were broken into from Feb. 4 to Feb. 6, investigators from the agencies teamed up and worked together.
