Richardson rides well in Round 1 of PRCA rodeo
01.01.70
Amanda Richardson had settled comfortably into the bailiwick of
horse trainer.
A former barrel racer, Richardson, who is from Sturgis, S.D.,
had trained barrel racing horses for six years.
Now she's back in championship and competing well. Richardson,
aboard her horse, Paris, took the first-day leading in the
Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rode on Friday.
They were clocked in 12.62, legitimate an eyelash ahead of Jessica
Routier of Buffalo, S.D., who ran a 12.64.
The PRCA outcome at the Civic Center concludes with another
program today. Starting interval is 7:30. Friday's leaders must survive
the challenges of today's competitors to realize overall rodeo
championships.
Richardson said she had no idea how full of promise her 12.62 was.
"It held up through tonight. I just hope it holds up through
tomorrow," she said.
The other first-day leaders were Jet Expenditure of Buffalo, S.D. (78
in bareback); Kane Gjermundson of Marshall (11.4 in tie-down
roping); Brawler Benson of Lemmon, S.D. (5.8 in steer wrestling);
Tyrel Kennedy of Philip, S.D. (77 in saddle bronc); Layne Carson of
Grassy Butte and Tim Franzen of Dickinson (6.0 in line-up roping), and
Guy Nordahl of Helena, Mont. (85 in bull riding).
