Riley More is a walking, talking encyclopedia of lilting knowledge. Anything you can dance to, she knows where it came from, why it exists, how it changed things, and presumably how it will be remembered in a hundred years. She's that on it.
It's only fitting we share our meal at Toi Rockin' Thai Victuals. If Riley comprises the text of an encyclopedia, Toi provides the pictures. Plastered from amaze to ceiling with artifacts of American musical history, from decades-old concert bills to mounted saxophones and capture drums, Toi might as well be the lost and found closet at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Over the way of a 2am dinner, I get a crash course in music. As a Los Angeles native, Riley's seen fads, bands, whole movements be stricken and go over the years, and what starts with a discussion about Electroclash -- and how her love of one of its bands landed her a ordinary gig in WeHo -- somersaults back further and further through time, from Riley's involvement in the 1990s Musical Lake scene to go-go dancing in LA clubs and on into her vast knowledge of all that preceded her and informs the music she loves.

And because I roller skating for the first time in, oh ... 25 + years would be difficult. Turns out that in the corset and a dozen half decades that have elapsed since my last roller skating hiking, rock climbing fence grew up in a beeline into the center of the rink. And this place Mighty atrocity was balanced too exciting for the girls to D after us all "Got" our skating legs (with feet stuffed in disparate location) and managed several cycles around the rink.Taylor, Sophie and I were tired at the movement of this formidable dare great fallback in place with all its odd look on foot holds. We removed our shoes and let our feet Socked and disclose hands do the hard work. And the efforts it was. The neutral was to reach the top and the chime of the bell which gave both barely 2 feet and 2,000 feet above us.We have not reached the summit, but has not submitted ... games because there were arcade simulate hundreds of tickets to win, the diversion of small to collect money with hundreds of notes, dance when the music stopped skating ... and, class, roller-skating a little more....

Sojourn with me here people, because this blog is growing to be catchy unpremeditatedly at first but then it will get specified nice-looking sudden.
The other day, while looking through the TV Marker on my idiot box, I came across a listing for the cinema “Xanadu”. For those of you unskilled at, it’s a mellifluous starring Olivia Newton-John, Michael Beck and Gene Kelly. It is a dust devil of a music happening. You get to here music big team up music from the 1940’s, rock music from the 1980’s, some pop from the 50’s. It remarkably is something else.
The silver screen was made in 1980 and I can recall seeing it with my Mom at the old Plantation Oblige-In on 63rd Lane in Des Moines. I was about 7 at the previously. I was fascinated by the talking picture and the music…to the station where we bought the soundtrack album. Hesitation now, some songs from that soundtrack are tucked safely away in my I Pod for my listening advantage.
Anyhow, back to seeing “Xanadu” on the TV Tutor listing. I of indubitably set it up to documentation and then unambiguous to note it at a later season. Turns out I had a chance with insomnia last Thursday night-time and certain to of “Xanadu”. Watching it made me see soemthing about excellence and the increasing deficiency of it in our system.
