I have blank non reversible Basketball Jerseys that are 100% Nylon, How Can I put Iron on Numbers on them?

I bought some Womens Basketball Jerseys that are nil so I can design them and put numbers and names on them myself with out costing a fortune. Any ideas for billion and lettering, I have iron on numbers but not sure if will ruin the jerseys? Please Aid!
