During the winter months, Richelle Gourley likes to keep her preschool students physically working with fun indoor play.
Gourley, lead teacher at the Seton Hill University Babe Development Center in Greensburg, lays out plastic shower curtains to sire a mock skating rink. With blow-up hockey sticks and soap up balls, the kids can play a little hockey game. The girls can put on tutus and fake to be figure skating. Or, they can bounce on bouncing balls, and shoot balls into the stationary, kid-neighbourly basketball hoop. For safety reasons, only a handful of kids can enjoy this acting play area at a time, and teachers can keep a good eye on them while they burn calories the fun way.
Every day, the kids do "tour time" activities with "musical movement" songs. They will move to songs by doing arm circles and jumping jacks or marching around the abide. Sometimes, the tots play a game similar to musical chairs. And when the suffer is nice, the kids often go outside to walk and play.
